In this talk, we'll go over the basics of UX research - customer observation, user personas, usability testing - and how they're used in the product development process. We'll also talk about ways to bootstrap UX research without breaking the bank. We'll also discuss free resources on where you can learn more about UX research and UX in general.
Ben is a UX Designer and Researcher from Los Angeles, California. He used to work with UX Pin and currently on a 4-month trip around Asia, visiting local UX communities along the way. This is his first time in Malaysia and is looking forward to hearing some of the must-have foods in Chiang Mai.
Search is an important part of a modern application stack. If you have
data and users looking at that data - you need search. And good search
is not just keyword matching. It is also post-search navigation with
facets and statistics, spelling correction, and deep domain awareness.
Apache Solr (https://lucene.apache.org/solr/) is a free, open source
Search Server built on top of the Apache Lucene library with more than
10 years of solid, active development. It integrates with Content
Management Systems, Library catalogues, Big Data pipelines, and Cloud
It is a big product with nearly infinite possibilities, yet it can be
rapidly deployed to power even small data-driven applications to
achieve great usability improvements.
In this in-depth introduction session, you will be explained the
concepts of custom search in general and Apache Solr in particular.
You will see a rapid-application-development approach using Apache
Solr using English and Thai sample content. You will leave with a
strong understanding of whether a Search Engine needs to be a part of
your application stack and - if it does - what are the next steps to
make this happen.
